FAQ

1. Is the system safe for my health?

The Ag+ ion solution is safe and it has been proved that it is not toxic. It uses the silver, a natural metal that is a viable alternative to the chemical synthesis products. Due to the fact that silver is not an antibiotic, the probability that bacteria could develop a specific resistance is low. The use of Ag derivatives is approved by EPA (US Environ-mental Protection Agency) and NSF, for an extended contact with food and is listed by FDA (Food & Drugs Administration), for the medical and food industries. The average silver content is under 0.1 ug/liter, in compliance with the test certificates, much under the admissible reference dose of 5 ug/kg body/day (according to EPA).

2. How long does the microflora development inhibition effect last?

The effect is valid during the whole service life of the product, if it is used in normal conditions, and abrasion of scratching are avoided. Abrasion can generate the deterioration of the inner layer and the loss of its microflora development inhibiting quality.

3. How can I clean the tank?

The tank shall be washed with usual food detergents and it shall then be dried or wiped with a soft cloth. Abrasive cleaning agents shall be avoided as much as possible.

4. What kind of material is used for manufacturing the tanks?

VALROM uses best quality (virgin material) high-density polyethylene (HDPE) for manufacturing aqua PUR® tanks. It ensures a very good ESCR - environmental stress cracking resistance.

5. Are the tanks approved for the contact with food environments?

Yes. All the raw materials used are approved for the extended contact with water and food liquid environments. The tanks are approved, as products, by the Ministry of health. For a copy of these approvals, enter www.valrom.ro and/or www.aqua-pur.ro.

6. What is the capacity of the system?

aquaPUR® is available in 3 volumes: 300, 500 and 750 litres. For details, enter www.aqua-pur.ro.

7. Can the aquaPUR* system be used to store other substances, too?

No. the aquaPUR® series tanks were designed to store only water or other chemically inert food liquids.

8. How thick are the walls?

The thickness of the walls is not relevant for the measurement of the mechanical resistance. Their geometry was designed to provide for minimum distortions at the maximum charge degree. Moreover, the weight of the tank is not relevant for the mechanical resistance or decisive for the quality of the product. The type of raw material, the geometry of the product, the parameters and the technological stages ensure a high-quality product.

9. What is the maximum operating temperature?

aquaPUR® can be used safely, up to a temperature of 40 °C. the liquids with temperatures exceeding this value, even for a short time, can damage the structural integrity and can increase the probability of the distortion or shorten the service life.

Top

10. What happens at negative temperatures?

The aquaPUR® tanks can be used to temperatures of maximum -40 °C, when they tend to become brittle. If you want to store a liquid into the tank, but you know it will freeze, make sure you have enough expansion space (volume increase due to freezing). In case of damage, the connection elements are easily replaced.

11. What is the service life?

There is no unitary manner of estimating the the service life, due to multiple factors that can influence it, indoor ou outdoor use, etc. from our experience, the service life can be estimated to approximately 20 years. Taking into account the fact that he material is completely recyclable, we recommend that at the end of its service life the system be sent to companies specializing in material recycling.

12. What is the warranty period?

The warranty period of the tank is 2 years from purchase. If during the warranty period defects occur that are imputable to the manufacturer, VALROM shall replace the equipment with a similar or an equivalent one if the defect cannot be repaired. VALROM’s responsibility is limited to the value of the actual equipment and excludes installation costs and collateral damages.

13. How can I find out the manufacturing date?

The manufacturing date (month and year) are stamped into the material used to make the tank. This marking is placed on the front surface of the tank.

14. Can the tanks be used under pressure, too?

No, the tanks cannot be used under pressure.

Top

15. During the operation, can air under pressure accumulate into the tank?

No, in order to prevent the accumulation of air under pressure into the tank, when high-pressure pumps are used, an air valve shall be placed in the cover.

16. What is a nanofilter?

It is a filter with electrokinetic properties – the filtration mechanism being adsorption and/or sedimentation that retains particles under 1 um, for example viruses, bacteria, various colloidal substances and metals (Fe, Al, Cu and Pb) dissolved in water.

17. Can the smell and taste of the potable water be used to establish when the filter has to be replaced?

No. These methods cannot be used to monitor the filtration system. When the water tastes or smells bad, contaminated substances are already present in the water. In order to ensure an optimum level of filtration, follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

18. The alarm system releases an acoustic signal. Why?

Check the indication of the alarm system.
(1)The level of the water in the tank is above the optimum operating level of the. In order to restore the functionality, stop the electric supply, by pressing the START-STOP button, located on the back of the tank and check/replace the mechanical float.
(2) you must replace the filters. In order to restore the functionality, stop the electric supply, by pressing the START-STOP button, located on the back of the tank, replace the filters.
When you have checked the operation of the mechanical float and/or you have intervened on the filters, press the START-STOP button, located on the back of the tank, press the RESET key for approximately 6 seconds and supply the tank in the usual manner.

19.Water flows through the overflow system. Does the tank operate normally?

No. the overflow is a safety element which prevents, in the case of a defected mechanical float, the discharge of the water from the tank. In this case, check the operation of the mechanical float.

20. A lot of impurities or sludge have accumulated on the mechanical filter. What should I do?

What should I do? Stop the system and change the filter, following the steps in the operating instructions.

21. What is the minimum water inlet pressure to which the system can operate? What is the maximum pressure?

The minimum water pressure to which the aquaPUR® system can operate at normal parameters is 1.5 bar ± 0.2 and the maximum pressure is 5 bar ± 0.2.

IMPORTANT - this is the pressure at which the water enters the system, NOT the pressure at which the tank can operate (see question 14).

22. The pump in the tank starts and stops continuously. Why?

The installation is not tight, it has leakages. Check the installation and remedy the defect.

Top

23. When is it necessary to intervene on the electronic control unit?

When the highest point of the inner installation exceeds 15 m as compared to the place where the system is installed.

Top

24. The red light of the electronic control unit is on. Why?

When the red light is on it indicates the absence of the water in the tank. Check the level of the water in the tank, then the tank supply installation. When you have remedied the defect, press the RESET key of the electronic control unit.

Top

25. The red light is on, even if the level of the water in the tank is normal. Why?

The set pressure of the electronic control unit is above the limit of the pump (3.5 bar). Rotate screw 5 of the electronic control unit, clockwise. Press the RESET key of the unit and make sure that the red light is off when the pump stops.

Top

26. The pump in the tank no longer starts. Why?

(1) Lack of supply voltage. Check the presence of the voltage at the system supply plug.
(2) Big level difference between the installation site of the system and one of the valves of the sanitary installation. Rotate screw 5 of the electronic control unit clockwise in order to increase the system operating pressure.
(3) The electropump is defected. Consult an authorized electrician.
(4) The electronic control unit is defected. Contact VALROM Industrie, for the remediation of the problem.
